Re: State or Private??

italic][/italic] We have just taken our daughter out of Mar Azul as we were badly let down by them and do quite a long drive to Monforte Del Cid each day to the new Spanish private school colegio san alberto Magno. It is superb and I feel that we are giving our daughter a fantastic start. She comes home happy in the evenings and I have never had to wake her until now as she is wacked out with such a busy fullfilling day! We looked at Rojales state school but heard too many scare stories about bullying and witnessed it for ourselves ~ unfortunately British children seem to be the worse! I also feel that unless a child is strong enough to fight their own corner private school is the better option until they are strong enough with their spanish.

Re: State or Private??

Hi Sharon

I've found the spanish state system very good up to yet. Class sizes small, teachers excellent. Transport and 3 course lunches provided. The youngest child has just been picked up by the psycholgist because she had some problems with her writing. I'm very impressed up to yet. The foreigners are catered for and helped with castellano and valenciano.
It took me ages to decide state or private and I feel I definitely made the right choice with state school.

Re: State or Private??

Hi everyone.
Been surfing lots and lots of forums and found this one! We are attempying to relocate to Almeria next spring, but I am having difficulty trying to decide about how to educate my daughter. She has just turned 13 years, and i originally thought she was too old to put into a spanish speaking school, I want the transition for her to be as easy as possible so thought that an english speaking private school would be best for her. After reading lots of forums i have seen a few people have put their children into state spanish schools at the same age.
Does anyone have any experience of this? I am currently unable to find any English schools in the Almeria anyway, so may have to look closer to Costa Del Sol for private English schooling.
Thanks in advance!
