Re: State or Private??

am hoping you will be of some help to me after endless days and hours’ looking at the internet my mind is still not made up and am still none the wiser about the information I need.

I am 38 years old with a twelve year old son, my parents want to move to Spain and want me to come with them however I do not know whether to wait until my son has finished school over here in London or to put him into a school in Spain. I have read some articles saying you should not send a 12 year old to a Spanish school as it would not be fair on them which I quite agree on as my son has had no Spanish lessons what so ever but then on the other hand I would like to know how much it would cost me to send him to an international school but there is no information anywhere on the internet also My Mum has a villa in Villa Martin torrevijaca which we can stay in until we are settled although I do not want to permanently live there, I would like to move to Almeria somewhere like Berja but cannot seem to find any international schools near there.
Have you any advice or suggestions you could give me please, I would be extremely grateful.

Hi Deena

I will try............ Research is the key and as many trips out as you can manage talk to people here and through the forums they are a great source of information.

If your son is bright I would put him into a Spanish school if I were you, however I am not and it is personal choice! International schools are expensive you are looking at approximately 7,000 euros per year and as you say not many down in the South CB, we looked and that was a big deciding factor as to which area we chose in the end as out eldest Jamie was too old for Spanish school at 15!

I have a list of international Schools on the site with all the contact details and also the differences explained between state and private which may help.

Good luck
