Good for you! I loved reading about your life. We are originally S. African, we have lived in Buckinghamshire for the past 19 years, until one year ago, when we moved to Spain.
I am busy, busy, my 80-year old mother has just had a mastectomy, (she had a brilliant 80th birthday celebration during the family reunion at our place in Spain on the Costa de la Luz in the summer) and my brother is fighting melanoma. We love living in Spain, we go to bed late, get up early, my husband and I work very hard, we are rather cold in winter, but like you we're here to stay and we are going to plough on through thick and thin because this place is really worth it. Our grandchildren adore their holidays here, they are still very young, but starting to pick up Spanish too.
What wonderful people the Spanish are, what a difficult language (but so rewarding when you get it right), what exquisite weather, what bright and brilliant light - there is no place to compare.
