Hi Sunshine girl

Yes it can get quite nippy especially in the evenings in the winter we have found that yes having the hot air from the hot and cold air on can be quite expensive so we now have oil filled electric radiators in the bedrooms which we keep on low all night, this takes the edge off the cold, we find this is enough, unless it is really cold then we have them on all day but normally this is only necessary for a couple of months in the year!

I hope this helps, they are a much safer option I feel than the gas heaters even though gas is cheaper I wouldnt leave them running.

Hi Fletch

We were so suprised how cold we felt of an evening because we don't have central heating.  We found that the big temperature change during the day makes it feel so much colder at night.  In January you can be sitting round the pool at lunchtime (long-sleeved t-shirt on) and 2 hours later you are inside with the fire on all snuggled up!

When we invested in a gas fire that made a big difference.  At first we put the hot air from the air-con on for 10 mins to boost the room temperature then this means you only need the gas fire on low to be comfortable.  It's still not as cold as the UK and only for a while!
